MAD Group Support Local Charities

28th Apr 2023
Down High “Make a Difference” group were delighted to support two local charities following the 'odd sock day' in school at the end of last term. Mt Garry Faughey came to school to receive the cheques and was able to tell us a little about the charities. “Downright Incredible Saintfield” is a local cross community Downs Syndrome support group started in 2018, aiming to establish relationships between families and children with Downs Syndrome and to help promote their social and cognitive development. There are approximately 20 families connected with the group and they have recently organised a family fun day including bouncy castles, music therapy, parent catch-up and food." Down Special Olympics strives to create a better world by fostering the acceptance and inclusion of all people. Through the power of sport, people with intellectual disabilities discover new strengths and abilities, skills and success. The athletes find joy, confidence and fulfilment—in sport and in life. They also inspire people in our local community and elsewhere to open their hearts to a wider world of human talents and potential.
