Down High Flyers

16th Oct 2022

Saturday 17th September saw the start of the inter-school show jumping league at The Meadows Equestrian Centre. As usual, the competition attracted teams from all over the province. The course proved very challenging and in the Open class only one school finished on a score of zero ! The riders from Down High school had clinched it again. Not only had all four riders completed double clear rounds, but they also did it in the fastest time. Zara Sharvin, Annie Gibson, Ben Cousins and Cara MacNabb secured top place and were clearly delighted as they rode their lap of honour. In the premier class, individual riders from Down High competed against some of the best inter-school show jumping talent. Once again, they were not disappointed as Zara Sharvin and James Murphy secured first and second place respectively.

In the second round of the competition on 1st October, even more teams rose to the course builder’s challenge. Five teams, and several individual riders from Down High competed against schools from every county. After the thrills, and a few spills, the competition was over and the judges announced the results. Once again, the Down High Flyers emerged as the overall winners, having completed eight clear rounds of challenging show jumps. Cara MacNabb, Annie Gibson, Emily Steele and Zara Sharvin rode into the arena to collect their coveted rosettes and prizes for first place. Another great day out for the team!
