Shared Education: Celebrating the work of care homes in these trying times
This Shared Education film from Down High School and St Patrick's Grammar celebrates the work of three of our local nursing homes and reflects on the pandemic and the challenges of the last year. There is an important educational message in the film about appreciating the work carried out in nursing homes by dedicated staff. The video also affirms the view that we should be valuing our senior citizens and listening to their wisdom, experiences and views. Thank you to all of the pupils from Down High and SPGS who played a part in this production and also the residents and staff of the three nursing homes: King’s Castle (Ardglass), Ringdufferin and Fishbourne House (Spa). Special thanks go Tori Marks in Year 13, who was the project manager for this most interesting production. Year 13 Down High student Ashia Erskine spent hours editing the final film, assisted by Rachael Beers. Look out for some well-known faces giving their encouragement to this important message.
Finally, the video is testament to the dedication and leadership of our Shared Education coordinator, Mr Williamson. Instead of watching mindless TV over the next few days, let us all take half an hour to be entertained, inspired and humbled.
