Gaelic Ulster Championship Final
Year 11 pupil, Niamh McElroy, has been making great strides in Gaelic football. Niamh plays for her club RGU Downpatrick for the U16, Minor and Senior divisions. Recently, Niamh has also been selected to be part of the County panel for the Down U16 team. In order to obtain this place she had to attend a number of trials and competed against more that 150 girls from across the province, being one of only 35 girls to make the final group. Niamh has relished the challenge to compete at this level and has competed against County teams in Donegal and Fermanagh.
On Saturday, Niamh took part in the Ulster Championship Final against Antrim. The team fought valiantly in this tough match but unfortunately the team lost by a small margin. Niamh’s achievements in this sport are impressive and we look forward to tracking her progress in the future.
