Fairtrade Petition to Local MP
23rd Mar 2017
A group of Year 10 Down High School pupils visited Margaret Ritchie’s constituency office in Downpatrick to hand over petitions that they completed as part of their work during Geography and Home Economics classes on the issue of Fairtrade. Millions of people in some of the world’s poorest countries rely on trade with the UK. For them, Brexit could mean major changes which could create even tougher trading conditions. The pupils felt that this issue was important and have asked Margaret Ritchie, our local MP, to write to the International Trade Secretary to highlight the need for the UK’s new trade approach to work for the world’s poorest people.
