Dance Team Claims Gold

Down High’s newly formed dance team stormed the stage in the recent NICMAC Schools’ Dance competition on Friday 11th March. Fifteen girls from across both Junior and Senior school showcased their dance routine ‘Burlesque’, while sisters Anna and Ellie McDowell performed their hip hop duet, ‘Make it shake’. After weeks of training and countless dress rehearsals the girls arrived ready to take action, competing against various schools from across Northern Ireland. The girls were thrilled when both dances were awarded first place in their respective categories. To cap off the day, Year 14 pupil, Ellie McDowell, having choreographed both dances was awarded the trophy for ‘Best Choreography’. Next up for the girls are the Ulster Schools and Fitness Dance Championships in April.
