Polli:nation Project

4th Jun 2017
Polli:nation Project

Down High has recently become involved with the Polli:nation Project, a Heritage Lottery funded biodiversity and education project which is run through Learning for Landscapes. As a result, parents, staff and pupils were involved in a planting workshop in a bid to encourage more pollinator species into the school grounds.
Year 10 pupils have also been involved and have been treated to a visit from the local Killinchy Beekeeper Association, who gave a presentation on bees and pollination. They brought with them a working observational hive and carried out honey taste tests. The pupils also had the opportunity to model the beekeeper gear.
